Pop That Bottle - Emma's Cottage 'Ruby' Sparkled Red
28 February 2019
Name:
Ruby
Tasting notes:
Ruby is bubbly, sassy and ever so slightly sweet. The taste is of a wonderful spiciness with soft tannins, a cornucopia of red fruits - plums, raspberry, strawberry, cherries and, is that violets I taste?
Why should everyone try this wine:
Well it’s such a surprise, lots of wonderful fruit flavours and with the bubbles it’s like a party in your mouth!
Fun fact about the wine:
Ruby was not originally going to be a sparkled red. It was planned as a still table wine. But what do you do when the colour drops and you already have a lovely dark Rosé – you send it to the champagne master and let him have a play! Why did we call it Ruby? – the colour for one, it’s the firey blood red of a ruby, and Ruby was a lovely red Kelpie who was much adored by everyone who met her.
